From participating in events on campus to serving your community, there are a variety of ways to get involved as a Pitt employee. Taking part in the numerous opportunities at Pitt and in our surrounding communities can help you feel more connected to your colleagues, your job, and your neighbors.
Volunteering is a meaningful way to make a difference in the communities in which we live, work, and play and is one of the many ways Pitt students, faculty, staff, and alumni engage with the people and communities of Pittsburgh.
While faculty and staff are encouraged to participate in service and volunteerism opportunities, volunteering is not a requirement of your employment at Pitt. In addition, staff are eligible to receive paid time off each month to participate in community service or volunteer activities.
Pitt Communities are staff and faculty affinity groups linked by a common purpose, ideology, or interest, and they play a vital role in ensuring an inclusive environment where all are valued, included, and empowered to succeed. Join a Pitt Community with those who share a common interest.
Make a gift to Pitt through PittGiving in support of our students, our research, and our communities. PittGiving is a part of the University's Division of Philanthropic & Alumni Engagement (PAE), which cultivates relationships with contributors, alumni, and other constituents on behalf of the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC, generating support for teaching, research, and care.
Pitt also hosts an annual Day of Giving, which offers numerous funds across the University for which to dedicate your gift. The University's United Way campaign is also managed by PAE.
Pitt's Office of Engagement and Community Affairs leads, coordinates and maximizes Pitt’s expansive neighborhood commitments in Oakland, the Hill District, Hazelwood, and Homewood.
The University's Community Engagement Centers (CECs) ground Pitt's neighborhood commitments in the heart of the community in which they are located. Acting as a front-door to Pitt, the CECs offer a vibrant and welcoming space to foster collaboration and house services, programs, and staff dedicated to the neighborhood.
Staff Council exists to advocate for and advance the interests of staff members across the institution while providing opportunities for professional development. Consider joining Staff Council to play a part in the communication link between Pitt staff and administration.
Get in the team spirit and cheer on the Pitt Panthers at an upcoming Athletics event featuring any of our 19 varsity sports.
As the official staff and faculty club, the University Club (informally called the "UClub") provides members and their guests with a place to convene, socialize, and foster the strong values and mission of Pitt.
University Club membership provides a variety of amenities, from happy hours to a fitness center to socializing with colleagues at various Club events.
Pitt Commons allows students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of the University of Pittsburgh to connect and to establish networking and/or mentoring relationships that are meaningful and specific to their unique interests and academic and career goals.
