Health and Wellness
  • Health and Wellness Coverage: Pitt's benefits offerings are among the region's best, including a medical plan with no deductibles, tuition remission, life insurance, optional dental and vision coverage, a contributory retirement plan, and more.
  • UPMC MyHealth@Work Center: The MyHealth@Work Center is an onsite health and wellness center that treats a variety of health issues. Healthcare professionals at the Center can help you get back to feeling your best. For emergency situations, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
  • Pitt Vaccination & Health Connection Hub: The Hub offers a convenient location on the Pittsburgh campus for Pitt employees and their families to get vaccinated and/or connected with health care resources. Walk-ins are welcome subject to availability.
  • UPMC AnywhereCare: Virtual visits through UPMC AnywhereCare provide you access to low-cost, high-quality care from a number of providers, accessible over live video from your smartphone, tablet, or computer.
  • Wellness for Life at Pitt: Your health and wellness is our priority. Looking to become more fit? Want to quit smoking? Wondering how you can make the switch to fresher, healthier foods? Pitt's Wellness for Life program focuses on proactive health care management. Services are offered to promote positive lifestyle activities and choices.

Mental Health and Wellness
  • LifeSolutions: LifeSolutions is the University's Faculty and Staff Assistance Program that provides a broad range of services to assist University employees and their household members to balance work and the stresses of daily life.
  • UPMC RxWell App: This digital wellness application has been developed by UPMC Health Plan to support its members with management of depression and other health and wellness challenges. This app offers real-time coping techniques to users, enhanced with personal health coaching to aid improvement. 
  • Health Coaching: Health coaching is available online, over the phone, or on campus for faculty and staff. Multiple services are available through health coaching, including emotional support such as stress management sessions, a Lunch and Learn series about mental and physical health, and more.

Child and Family Care
  • Care.com: Care.com offers a network of providers and options to assist with needs such as after-school care, caring for a child who is home sick, caring for children while you are working from home, caring for aging parents, and more.
  • University Child Development Center (UCDC): UCDC serves the University community by providing high quality early childhood programs/child care for children ranging in age from six weeks through five years of age.
  • Leaves of Absence and Time Off: The University of Pittsburgh aims to be as accommodating as possible. To achieve this goal, Pitt offers multiple options for leaves of absence and time off.

Financial and Legal Resources
  • Retirement Savings Plan: The Defined Contribution Plan is the retirement savings plan offered to newly hired and current employees at the University of Pittsburgh.
  • GreenPath - Finance and Debt Management Services: With GreenPath's assistance, eligible employees can receive confidential one-on-one finance and debt management coaching, personalized plans to take action, and more.
  • Savi - Student Loan Assistance: Pitt faculty and staff are eligible to receive assistance in navigating repayment plans and federal student loan programs, such as the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program.
  • PittPerks: PittPerks is a program that provides a broad range of discounts and the opportunity to purchase certain voluntary benefits at group rates through payroll deductions to employees.
  • MetLife Legal Services: MetLife Legal Services connects you to a national network of over 17,000 pre-qualified attorneys for a low monthly rate no matter how many times services are needed.

Physical Health and Fitness
  • On-Campus Facilities: Facilities are available across campus for faculty, staff, and students to work out, swim, and play recreational sports.
  • Active&Fit Direct Program: With the Active&Fit Direct Program, UPMC Health Plan participants have access to a wide range of national fitness centers and on-demand fitness videos for just $25 a month.
  • Health Coaching: Health coaching is available online, over the phone, or on campus for faculty and staff. Multiple services are available through health coaching, including emotional support such as stress management sessions, a Lunch and Learn series about mental and physical health, and more.

Safety and Security
  • Emergency Notification System (ENS): The University's Emergency Notification Service (ENS) provides University students and employees with critical information in the event of an emergency—using voice, text, and email channels.
  • Pitt Concern Connection: The Pitt Concern Connection is an all-in-one reporting system that can be used by students, faculty, staff and even community members to report issues ranging from environmental compliance to student conduct and everything in between.
  • Pitt Police: Provides a variety of services to the Pitt community in addition to being the primary contact for emergencies on the Pittsburgh campus.

Personal Needs When on Campus
  • Single Occupancy Restrooms (With Map): View an interactive map of the Oakland campus, including single-occupancy restrooms across campus. Faculty, staff, and students are welcome to use these or any restroom that corresponds to their gender identity.
  • Lactation Rooms: The University values and encourages lactating parents in the employment and education environment. Learn more about using these rooms.
  • Disability Resources and Services: The University of Pittsburgh is committed to promoting equal access and inclusive experiences to students, faculty and staff.

Work Matters
  • Flexible Work Arrangements: If you plan to or are working a hybrid or remote schedule, you will need to have a Flexible Work Arrangement on file with the University. Connect with your supervisor to learn more about Flexible Work Arrangements and how to implement one.
  • Time Off: Pitt provides a range of time off, including sick time, vacation time, and personal time, as well as time off for holidays, winter recess, and more.
  • Leaves of Absence: The University of Pittsburgh aims to be as accommodating as possible. To achieve this goal, Pitt offers multiple options for leaves of absence and time off.
